What to know first

  • Sparks lists sildenafil 55 mg and tadalafil 22 mg; Hard Mints adds B12 and requires confirmation of the prescribed strengths.
  • Sparks has explicit monthly dose-count examples; Hims’ starting monthly and per-use offers need a matched quote.
  • No randomized head-to-head trial of the two finished products was verified.

These product reviews examine public formulation information, research, and service terms. We have not ordered the treatments, tested their effects, or audited patient care. How we research.

This comparison is specifically about the as-needed 3-in-1 Hard Mint. It does not describe Hims’ Daily Hard Mints, single-ingredient chews, or Sex Rx daily combinations. Ro’s Daily Rise gummy is also a different product with its own review.

Sublingual drop versus chew

The product formats raise different practical questions about administration, taste, inactive ingredients, storage, and the instructions supplied by the dispensing pharmacy. A route name does not prove one product has a superior clinical effect.

Sparks’ onset claim describes an average after dissolution. The time needed to dissolve the product is a separate part of the experience. A chewable product’s claim may use another starting point or measure. Without matching definitions and study methods, a speed ranking would imply more precision than the evidence supports.

If swallowing difficulty is the reason for considering either option, describe it to the clinician. A format preference does not by itself establish a need for two PDE5 inhibitors. Ask whether a suitable single-ingredient alternative is available.

Ro Sparks$48 monthly / 4 doses; $72 / 6; $96 / 8; $120 / 10The selected prescription and final checkout terms

Hims separate chewable pageSelected sildenafil/tadalafil mints: from $6/useWhich current configuration qualifies for that unit price

See Ro’s prices and Hims’ catalog and chewable page. We have not verified a matched basket for the same strengths and quantity. Dividing $30 by $6 does not prove a five-mint plan, and a $48 four-dose order is not a daily supply.

Three unchanged four-dose Sparks renewals total $144 and allocate 12 doses. That is a calculation from a defined public plan. A comparable three-month Hard Mints total needs an actual selected quote. Keep the amount paid upfront separate from a monthly equivalent.

What the additional vitamin changes—and does not show

B12 is part of the Hard Mints formulation, not a third PDE5 inhibitor. Its presence does not establish that the finished chew produces better erectile outcomes than a two-drug product. Evidence about correcting a vitamin deficiency would not answer the full comparison.

Ask why each ingredient is included and whether the proposed strengths can be adjusted independently. A fixed combination may be convenient, but a side effect from one component can require changing the whole prescription.

How to compare the evidence without overstating it

There are several different evidence questions: whether an approved medicine treats ED, whether a dosing strategy helps a particular group, whether a compounded formulation behaves as advertised, and whether a platform delivers good care. One study rarely answers all four.

The 180-patient tadalafil-and-sildenafil study used a specific daily-plus-as-needed regimen. It did not compare Ro’s finished Sparks product with Hims’ finished Hard Mints. Provider satisfaction data also cannot establish a head-to-head efficacy result. Our review did not verify a randomized comparison of those branded products.

If your priority is using a conventional approved medicine, ask both services about that option directly. If a compounded format is proposed because of a particular medical need, ask the clinician to explain that need and how the formulation addresses it. The service’s broader catalog should not be confused with the suitability of every item in it.

Do not turn brand shopping into medication stacking

Starting another service does not make an existing prescription disappear. Tell the new clinician about all current ED medicines and when you last used them. Standard tadalafil labeling advises against combining it with other PDE5 inhibitors. Do not alternate or overlap products without explicit guidance for your situation.

Compounded Sparks, gummies, and mints are not FDA-approved. A clinician should explain the reason for a compounded formulation and its alternatives. FDA’s compounding guidance and our ED medication safety guide provide context.

Subscription handling: the operational differences

Published billing and cancellation details
QuestionRoHims
What deadline is published?General terms refer to the cutoff disclosed when the plan is purchased.Support asks for action at least 48 hours before the next order date.
Can cancellation stop an existing order?Contact support promptly while processing; shipped orders cannot be canceled.Canceling the subscription does not cancel processing or shipped orders.
What is the refund position?Prescription sales are generally final; contact Ro about dispensing errors. General terms separately cover rejected treatment requests.A refund is not guaranteed once the pharmacy processes the order.
Is changing treatment the same as changing billing? No; prescription changes go through the provider. No; rescheduling, cancellation, and clinical changes have separate account or care steps.

These entries come from Ro’s terms, order guidance, return policy, and Hims’ cancellation and refund instructions. They describe policy text checked on the review date, not outcomes from test purchases.

Neither “cancel anytime” nor “message your provider” is enough to infer that a pending charge will be reversed. Check the next processing date, complete the required account action, and save confirmation. If your prescription changes, ask explicitly which product the next shipment will contain.

Plan for a change before buying a larger supply

If treatment does not meet your goal, the clinician needs details: the product and strengths used, whether you followed the supplied instructions, the response, and any adverse effects. A statement that you need something “stronger” leaves several possible explanations unexamined.

Before the next order, separately check whether the current prescription is still the intended one. A message to a clinician does not necessarily stop a refill. Ask how a new formula is charged and what happens to unused dispensed medication.

Neither our research nor the providers’ public plan descriptions establish which service delivers better care for a particular patient. We have not audited clinician decisions or measured support response times.

Frequently asked questions

Which product has the lower complete price?

Sparks has explicit public count-based examples. Hims’ starting offers need a matched prescription and checkout quote before an equivalent total can be compared.

Does B12 make Hard Mints better?

The presence of a vitamin does not establish superior erectile outcomes. Ask what finished-product evidence supports the claim.

Can I compare them by trying both on the same day?

Do not overlap them on your own. Both contain PDE5 inhibitors; obtain individualized switching instructions from a clinician.

Are the generic tablet products included here?

No. This page compares the two named compounded products. Conventional sildenafil and tadalafil tablets have separate reviews.
